Ah Ya Helu
- Bio
Lead by award-winning choreographer and international performer Ashtalea,
the Las Vegas based belly dance troupe “Ah Ya Helu” (translated
from Arabic meaning ‘O Beautiful’) is more dazzling than
the typical group of dancers - they are a stunning blend of sparkling
visual art and colorful synchronicity that shimmers across the Las
Vegas valley.

Formed in 2005, Ah Ya Helu hosts a uniquely talented cast of 10 beautiful ladies
ranging from classically trained jazz/ballet dancers to musicians, singers,
and yoga instructors. The multi-faceted group takes its Classical Rak Sharki
belly dance foundation into tribal, folkloric, jazz, and fusion styles, showing
off its versatility and ability to creatively mix and mingle flavors.
Performing
in major Las Vegas venues such as the Palace Station, Texas Station and South
Point casinos, as well as Freemont Street, the Cashman Center Theater, and
Flamingo Library Theater, the troupe is well equipped with experience to
diversely delight and entertain its audience.
They regularly perform
together at annual events such as Cairo Carnival, the Las Vegas Belly
Dance Intensive,
Las Vegas Renaissance Festival , the World Folk Festival
at Fremont, and have produced their own show for the College of Southern
Nevada three years in a row.
Ah Ya Helu is a very active troupe in the community and has performed
at community haflas, the International Belly Dance Convention, the
Southern Nevada Health Fair and the the YMCA. They have also performed
at private functions such as the Las Vegas Mini Vacation Convention,
the Springs
Preserve,
birthday parties and weddings.
Ah
Ya Helu have been honored to be included in shows with several belly
dance masters
including Fahtiem, Suhaila
Salimpour, Karim Nagi and Meera.
Ah Ya Helu’s goal is to share
the love of dance in spirit and performance with those around them
and support their local belly dance
community.
